Love and Forty have a co-dependent relationship that goes back years as well as an unusual pair of names. Love and Forty are played by Victoria Pedretti and James Scully, respectively. I definitely hated him in the beginning of season 2, but towards the end when he started to uncover the truth about Beck, Joe, and Nicky I was really rooting for him. SEASON three of Netflix’s You is here and many fans have been left shocked by the ‘return’ of one particular character. A fierce protective instinct and total lack of parental guidance are what led her to kill at the tender age of 13 when she found out that the nanny was sexually abusing Forty. Season 2 of You on Netflix arrived this week (December 26) and brought with it a fully loaded cast of characters including well-to-do twins, Love and Forty Quinn. He’s a stark contrast someone like joe who is a lot more calculated and cunning. Something about his helpless, naive, yet loyal and hopeful nature makes you want to root for him despite him being such an annoyance. He has a warped perception of reality, clearly, but I find myself wanting to protect him the way love does lmao.
I also think he’s likable because we see that he’s really just an naive guy who has no ill intentions. Without forty being the way he was, it would’ve been far less entertaining. In season 2, the acid trip episodes were the best. Imo liking a character is less about vibing with a person than it is about enjoying them on screen and thinking they make the plot entertaining. Yes he would be annoying if I met him irl, but so would Joe, love, sherry, Cary, Ellie, Delilah, Candace, literally every character.
